The Hotel Chelsea - room #101 - New York City - 2005

I was in NYC in November of 2005. I had planned a meeting with Yoko Ono to visit art galleries. The meeting never occurred and my own contacts with galleries were ineffective. Upset and frustrated, I left the Hotel Chelsea every morning between 4:00 and 6:00 am because of the jet lag. For 2 weeks, I wandered the streets of Manhattan before the work of garbage men. Sidewalks were full of old pieces of furniture, storage units, lamps, books, etc. Every morning, I chose exciting objects and brought them back to the hotel. I installed them in my room and, little by little, I completely reshaped the space. At the end, I had transformed the room and created a new environment. Room #101 was mine. I had left my mark, my trail.
